Research

In addition to her clinical work, as an academic Dermatologist A/Prof Saracino is also actively involved in research. Amanda’s key academic interests are the underlying causes, impact and treatments for connective tissue diseases, including Lupus and Scleroderma. She is also an investigator in numerous clinical trials for new treatments in skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea at Emeritus Research.

A/Prof Saracino is also an invited peer reviewer for Australasian, US, UK and European Dermatology and Rheumatology journals.

Amanda thoroughly enjoys combining her clinical and research work, and the benefits this can bring to her patients.

  • Investigating the genetic and immunological basis of scleroderma / morphoea.
  • Reviewing evidence for the latest in treatment for lupus skin rashes and systemic sclerosis.
  • Comparing new JAK inhibitors and anti-IL13/4 biologic therapies for severe eczema.
  • Investigating new topical treatments for psoriasis.
